The Hausbergbahn is a cable car from Garmisch-Partenkirchen (732 m) to the Hausberg (1338 m) and thus to the “Classic” ski area Hausberg- Alpspitze . It belongs to the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG and is only operated in winter.

Old local mountain railway

Back in 1938, the market town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Europe built the steepest and longest drag lift on the local mountain. This lift was handed over to Wankbahn AG in 1940 and replaced by a chairlift in 1952 .

The former Hausbergbahn built by PHB went into operation in 1969. It was an aerial tramway with two 70-person cabins and two supports. At a speed of 10 m / s, the journey time was 5 minutes and the transport capacity was 700 people per hour.

Since 2003 the Hausbergbahn has only operated in winter. The aerial tramway was in operation until the end of the 2005/06 winter season.

New local mountain railway

For the winter season 2006/07 she was one of Doppelmayr built orbit replaced. It has an inclined length of 2036 meters and overcomes a height difference of 606 meters. With the 66 cabins from CWA, each for 8 people, a conveying capacity of 2400 people per hour is achieved. The 50 mm thick hauling rope runs over 14 cable car supports. The cable car is driven by two electric motors, each with 420 kW, in the mountain station and kept at the same voltage with a hydraulic tensioning device in the valley station. The garage for the cabins is located in the mountain station.

A platform was also built at the Ausserfernbahn , which enables skiers to travel by train.
