Household organization training
Household organization training ( proper spelling HOT - the household organization training ) is an offer of support for families in Germany, which was developed in the years 2000 to 2003 as part of a federal project by the German Caritas Association under scientific supervision. HOT was developed as a concept to prevent poverty and is aimed at families with children. The target group of the HOT particularly includes families who find themselves in a precarious situation due to poverty or excessive demands .
Goals and Methods
The goals of the HOT are called “to change dysfunctional household structures together with the family by learning new behavioral strategies; Empowering parents to regain their responsibility for caring for their children; the resources to mobilize the family and to strengthen their ability to help themselves. "
Specifically, this training covers areas of housework and family work . This includes, in particular, caring for the children (including infants and toddlers), implementing a daily structure appropriate to the age of the children (also taking into account the need for sleep ) and organizing everyday life (including everyday bureaucracy ). In addition, there is cleanliness and order in the apartment, concern for health , personal hygiene and hygiene including clothes and laundry care as well as shopping, nutrition and the preparation of meals , dealing with money and avoiding or coping with debt and over-indebtedness .
Home visits and helping people to help themselves are integral parts of the concept.
Implementation and legal basis
HOT missions are carried out in cooperation with child and youth welfare organizations who finance these missions. It is implemented by specialist family care services and village aid . HOT sees itself as a complement to other family support services geared towards parenting and relationship support.
The legal bases of the HOT are:

- § 27 SGB VIII Help for education
- § 31 SGB VIII Social-educational family support
- § 70 SGB XII help to keep the household going
Further training offers as helpers for the HOT household organization training include a. technical and methodological skills and techniques of time and self-management .

Household Organization Training has been registered as a trademark with the German Patent and Trademark Office since 2006 .
