Have a nice day!

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Have a nice day! (short NICE , nitro Injection Car Enterprises) is a in 1997 by Synetic programmed and Magic Bytes posted racing game for Windows . Later the add-on Track-Pack was released, which offers additional setting options and about as many routes again. In 1998 the sequel NICE 2 was released

action

The player starts his career as a racing driver at the very bottom: In a Chevrolet Impala he has to complete a series of races. It is not important to always finish first - there is a point system that is similar to that of Formula 1 . For every race won, the player receives money and a few puzzle pieces. With the money he can tune his car and buy some more or less useful gimmicks. The player can put the puzzle pieces together and receives a cash bonus if he completes the puzzle. As soon as the player emerges from a racing series as the winner, he is promoted to the next higher class. The Chevrolet Impala was soon followed by the Ford Mustang , which was later replaced by a rocket-powered car.

In addition to the career mode, there is also the option of fighting another driver in a duel. Depending on the amount invested, few or no drivers dare to do this. If your own car is damaged, the player can use a repair kit that repairs the car by 20 percent.

Routing

Most of the routes have a historical background, one of the routes leads past the pyramids of the Egyptians, the other past those of the Aztecs. Each route is peppered with loops and ramps. The curves were marked with different colors, for example a red marked curve is wide and can be taken quickly, a blue one a little narrower and a yellow one almost forces a complete standstill so as not to hit the guardrail.

particularities

In the tuning shop there are, in addition to the "normal" upgrade options (engine, suspension, etc.), also some unusual parts to choose from. In addition to helpful items such as guardrail guides and floor vacuum cleaners, there are nice accessories for the interior. This includes a toilet paper roll for the hat shelf, a gear knob in the shape of a skull and plush cubes for the mirror. A foxtail and a victory cigar can also be purchased, but they don't help with the races.

NICE is best known for its arsenal, which includes the following weapons:

  • Gatling Gun (classic machine gun)
  • Sticky mines (are thrown from the rear of the vehicle onto the hood of the enemy, where they detonate)
  • Oil Thrower (Makes enemies slide)
  • Nail thrower (Lays a carpet of nails on the roadway and hinders other drivers)
  • Missiles (always flying straight ahead and detonating at the target)
  • EMP missiles (an EMP is triggered in the target that paralyzes the enemy vehicle)
  • Tire knife (slash the opponent's tires)

"Hellcat" plays a funny, albeit pointless role, who lets loose a sarcastic comment on the player after each race (e.g. "Even a blind hen finds a [sic] grain!")

compatibility

Without further ado, NICE cannot be started on PCs from Windows XP , but it can be made to run using the compatibility mode . Starting with Windows 10, NICE runs again without any problems.
