Haworthia kingiana is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodill family (Asphodeloideae). Thespecific epithet longiana honors Haworthia collector Mrs. EB King.

description

Haworthia kingiana grows without a trunk and sprouts slowly. The narrowed, spreading, lanceolate-triangular leaves form a rosette with a height of up to 18 centimeters. The yellowish green leaf blade is up to 16 inches long and 1.8 inches wide. It is as thick as it is wide. The leaf surface is rough. There are raised rounded warts on it that do not flow together.

The loose inflorescence is sparsely branched and consists of 30 to 40 flowers . The flower tube is upside down. The tips of the tepals are short and veined pinkish-red.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia kingiana is common in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

The first description by Karl von Poellnitz was published in 1935. Nomenclatory synonym are Haworthia subfasciata var. Kingiana (Poelln.) Poelln. (1938) and Haworthia pumila var. Kingiana (Poelln.) Halda (1997).
