Haworthia magnifica is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodill family (Asphodeloideae).

description

Haworthia magnifica grows without a trunk and sprouts slowly. The spread, trimmed leaves form a rosette with a diameter of up to 8 centimeters. The leaf blade is dark green to purple in color. The end face is slightly translucent between the wires. The leaf margin is rough to finely thorn. There are small, slightly protruding warts on the leaf surface.

The slender inflorescence reaches a length of up to 40 centimeters and consists of 15 to 20 white, brownish-veined flowers , of which only a few are open at the same time. The tips of the outer tepals are pinched.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia magnifica is common in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

The first description by Karl von Poellnitz was published in 1933.

Nomenclatory synonyms are Haworthia maraisii var. Magnifica (Poelln.) MBBayer (1976, incorrect name ICBN -Article 11.4) and Haworthia retusa var. Magnifica (Poelln.) Halda (1997).

A distinction is made between the following varieties :
