Haworthia pygmaea is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodill family (Asphodeloideae).

description

Haworthia pygmaea grows stemless and slowly sprouting. The twelve to 15 blunt, round-pointed leaves form a rosette with a diameter of 6 to 10 centimeters. The leaf blade is 6 inches long and 1.8 inches wide. There are indistinct raised warts on the translucent leaf surface. Sometimes it is very warty.

The powerful inflorescence reaches a length of up to 30 centimeters and consists of 15 to 20 flowers . The white flowers are veined with green.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia pygmaea is widespread in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

The first description by Karl von Poellnitz was published in 1929.

A distinction is made between the following varieties :

  • Haworthia pygmaea var. Pygmaea
  • Haworthia pygmaea var. Argenteo-maculosa (GGSm.) MBBayer
