Haworthia sordida is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodilla family (Asphodeloideae).

Haworthia sordida grows without a trunk and only rarely sprouts. The six to 15 upright, lanceolate-triangular, narrowed leaves form a rosette with a height of up to 15 centimeters and a diameter of 8 centimeters. The dark gray to blackish green leaf blade is up to 15 centimeters long and 2 centimeters wide. The leaf surface is rough. There are clearly raised warts on it that do not flow together. The leaf margin is bluntly rounded.

The sparsely branched, loose inflorescence reaches a length of up to 40 centimeters. The corolla is straight and the inner tepals are rolled back.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia sordida is widespread in the South African province of Western Cape near Heidelberg .

The first description by Adrian Hardy Haworth was published in 1821.

Nomenclatory synonym are Aloe sordida (Haw.) Roem. & School f. (1829), Haworthia scabra subsp. sordida (Haw.) Halda (1997) and Haworthia scabra var. sordida (Haw.) Halda (1997).

A distinction is made between the following varieties :
