Haworthia zantneriana is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodilla family (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet zantneriana the German succulent lover Alfred Zantner († 1953).

description

Haworthia zantneriana grows stemless and sprouts. The 20 to 40 spread, lanceolate, narrowed, pointed leaves form a rosette with a diameter of 5 to 6 centimeters. The bald, soft, pale green leaf blade is 6 inches long and 1.2 inches wide. There are usually transparent, white longitudinal markings on the leaf surface.

The slender inflorescence reaches a length of up to 25 centimeters and consists of 20 to 30 loosely arranged flowers . The white flowers have a green vein.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia zantneriana is widespread in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.

The first description by Karl von Poellnitz was published in 1935. A nomenclatory synonym is Haworthia chloracantha var. Zantneriana (Poelln.) Halda (1997) .

A distinction is made between the following varieties :

  • Haworthia zantneriana var. Zantneriana
  • Haworthia zantneriana var. Minor M.B.Bayer
