The Hayes Glacier is a 45 km long valley glacier in the Tordrillo Mountains in Alaska ( USA ). The glacier was named in 1898 after Charles Willard Hayes (1858-1916), a geologist from the US Geological Survey (USGS) .
The Hayes Glacier has a western and an eastern spring glacier, which drain the southern flank as well as the western and northeast flank of Mount Gerdine . The Hayes Glacier initially flows north and gradually turns northeast. It has a width of 1.7 km and ends at an altitude of about 370 m . The Hayes River , a right tributary of the Skwentna River , is fed by the glacier. The Hayes Glacier is on the decline.
2.5 km north-northeast of Mount Gerdine is the Hayes volcano at an altitude of 2788 m below the eastern source glacier .
