At 3431  m, Mount Gerdine is the second highest mountain in the Tordrillo Mountains in Alaska .

The heavily glaciated mountain is 18.9 km north of Mount Torbert , the highest point in the mountain range. Anchorage is 143 km east-southeast. The southern flank is the accumulation zone of the western source of Glacier Hayes Glacier , the west and north-east flank the accumulation zone of the eastern source glacier. The eastern flank forms the origin of the southern source glacier of the Trimble Glacier (South Branch Trimble Glacier) .

2.5 km north-northeast of the summit is the subglacial Hayes volcano .

The mountain was named after Thomas Golden Gerdine (1872-1930), a topographer of the US Geological Survey (USGS) .

The first ascent was made on May 5, 1963 by a group of five consisting of Rod Wilson, Lowell Thomas, George Wichman, Paul Crews Jr. and Paul Crews Sr. The starting point of the ascent, which was reached by plane (float plane) , was the eastern one Source glacier of the Hayes Glacier. The first ascent was preceded by two failed ascent attempts in the previous two years.
