The Skwentna River is an approximately 160 km long right tributary of the Yentna River in the south of the US state Alaska .
It rises from the South Twin Glacier in the Tordrillo Mountains . Just below the South Twin Glacier, the North Twin Glacier ends on the right bank of the river. The Skwentna River flows through the Tordrillo Mountains in a northerly direction. Later he later turns east. From the left the Happy River flows into the Skwentna River, from the right the Hayes River and the Talachulitna River . This flows in a northeasterly direction through the lowlands before it meets the Yentna River. The river is largely fed by the meltwater from the glaciers and accordingly has the highest monthly discharge in the months of June and July. 20 km above the mouth, the mean discharge is 187 m³ / s.
