The South Twin Glacier ( south twin glacier English for "southern twin glacier ") is located in the Tordrillo Mountains in Alaska ( USA ). The glacier name was reported by the US Geological Survey (USGS) in 1927 .
The South Twin Glacier is a 15.6 km long valley glacier to the west of the Tordrillo Mountains. The glacier's nutrient area is located 5 km southwest of Mount Talachulitna at an altitude of 2400 m . The South Twin Glacier initially flows south and later in a south-westerly direction. It includes a total of three tribute glaciers from the left . Finally, the 1.5 km wide glacier flows 7 km in a westerly direction and ends at an altitude of around 880 m . The North Twin Glacier runs north of the South Twin Glacier. The tongues of the two glaciers are about 500 m apart. The South Twin Glacier is the origin of the Skwentna River . A smaller part of the meltwater flows towards the Nagishlamina River , which runs south . This flows into the Chakachamna Lake .
