Franz Josef Talbot

Franz Josef Talbot (* 1955 in Hillesheim ) is a German preservationist , art historian and architect. From 1990 to 2016 he was the city curator of Bonn .

Life

Talbot comes from Lissendorf in the Eifel . After studying architecture or training to become a Dipl.-Ing. At the University of Applied Sciences in Koblenz he initially worked in an architecture office. This was followed by studying art history and archeology at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau . From 1984 Talbot worked for the Cologne District Government in the area of ​​monument preservation. In 1989 he received his doctorate in Freiburg and in the following year he moved to Bonn as city curator, head of the Lower Monument Authority . Talbot also held teaching positions at the University of Bonn and the Technical University of Cologne . From 2012 to 2016 he was chairman of the working group on municipal monument preservation in the German Association of Cities . On December 1, 2016, he retired as city curator.

Talbot is married, has a daughter and lives in Cologne .
