Hayunga Carman
Bertram Hayunga Carman (born February 22, 1875 in Morrisburg , Ontario , † June 6, 1965 in Toronto ) was a Canadian music teacher.
Career
Carman studied in Toronto with JDA Tripp , in London, where York Bowen dedicated his Second Suite to him, with Tobias Matthai and finally with Isabelle Vengerova and Xaver Scharwenka . In 1910 he returned to Canada and began teaching at the Toronto Conservatory . For the next 47 years until his retirement he was considered one of the best piano teachers in Canada. His students included Edna Baggs , George Haddad , Bruce Harding , Patricia Blomfield Holt , Margaret Ann Ireland , Muriel Kilby , Patricia Perrin Krueger , Percival Price , Mary Syme and Gordon Wallis .
