Headplate is a nu-metal band from Gothenburg , Sweden that was formed in 1993. The band consists of members of the bands Engel , Gardenian and Passenger .
history
The band was founded in 1993 by Daniel “Danne” Granstedt (electric guitar, backing vocals), Niklas “n1c” Österlund (drums) and Marcus Österlund (electric bass) as a still nameless project. In the following year, Marcus Österlund switched from electric bass to electric guitar. Håkan “Heyk” Skoger joined the band as the new bass player. In 1995 the band was looking for a singer, wrote the first songs and started recording. In 1996 they found a suitable singer in Jim Kjell (previously singer with Gardenian ).
In 1997 the band made their first appearance. This is how Gain Productions / Gain Recordings became aware of the band. In 1998 the band finally adopted the name "Headplate". They recorded their first demo called Wake Up , with Magnus "Mangan" Klavborn (currently singer with Engel) as the singer. A second demo called Sleepy was released. This contained songs that should also be included on the later album "Bullsized". The band made their first appearance under the name "Headplate" in Kinna , Sweden.
In 1999 the next demo called "Beyond What's in Front" was released. A song from this demo should also be included on "Bullsized" later. Negotiations with Gain Recordings began. Marcus Österlund left the band for personal reasons. The rest of the band signed with Gain Recordings.
In 2000 the band entered the studio to record their debut album Bullsized . A video for the song of the same name was also recorded. The album was mixed and mastered in May and the cover design was completed. The album was supposed to be released in June but was ultimately released on October 2nd. The release party took place at Belsepub in Gothenburg, which was also the first gig with just four members. This was followed by a short tour through Sweden. In the next year some more gigs followed in Sweden. The band performed at the Hultsfred Festival and the Finnish Tuska Open Air Metal Festival . In November, the recordings for the second album began. Headplate was also the inaugural band for Machine Head's concerts in Scandinavia .
In 2002 the second album Delicate was released. The album was mixed and mastered in January and February. The band also held a small tour with the Swedish band LOK in Norway . The album Delicate was released on June 3rd. This was followed by an appearance on the Göteborgskalaset .
In 2003 the band started writing new material. Håkan Skoger left the band in June and was replaced by Johan Andreassen. In 2003 the band released their last album so far called Pieces . The following year the band continued to write songs and make some recordings. In 2005 Klavborn left the band. In 2005 Kalvborn left the band.
style
Headplate play classic Nu-Metal. They are compared to other bands like Spineshank , Orgy and 40 Grit . The songs are about anger, aggression and depression.
