The Heart Lake (German: Sweetheart Lake ) is one of the many small freshwater lakes on Cape Barne on the Antarctic Ross Island . The lake is about one kilometer northwest of Terrace Lake .
The lake was discovered by participants in the Nimrod expedition (1907–1909) led by the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton . It was named after its heart-shaped bank.
