Heartless Bastards is an American blues and indie rock band that was formed in 2003 in Cincinnati , Ohio . The name of the band comes from a knowledge quiz that offered the Heartless Bastards as a possible answer to the question about the name of Tom Petty's backing band .
history
In addition to Erika Wennerstrom and Dave Colvin, who are still in the band today, Adam McAllister on electric bass and Michael Weinel as lead guitarist were founding members. They first performed in August 2003 at The Comet bar in Cincinnati. After Colvin, McAllister and Weinel left the band, Wennerstrom continued with Kevin Vaughn on drums and Mike Lamping on electric bass. In 2004 they signed a record deal with Fat Possum Records after Patrick Carney of The Black Keys had handed over a demo recording there.
The first album Stairs and Elevators was released in 2005. On August 8, 2006, All This Time was their second studio album. In August 2008 the band announced a new line-up. Only Erika Wennerstrom stayed in the band. Jesse Ebaugh and Dave Colvin from the original cast returned. On February 3, 2009, the third album, The Mountain, was released . On February 14, 2012, Partisan Records released the fourth album, Arrow , on which Mark Nathan completed the line-up on electric guitar.
