Heather Small
Heather Small (born January 20, 1965 in London ) is a British soul singer . Her greatest successes began in 1990 as the lead singer of the British band M People .
Short biography
Small applied to many advertisements and was hired in 1988 by the jazz-soul group Hot House. When she met DJ Mike Pickering, the course was set for her breakthrough with M People . She lent her voice to the Manchester- based house and drum and bass group from 1990 onwards, while also starting a solo career. She was born and raised in London. Her biggest hits include Moving on Up and Search for the Hero .
In June 2000 she released her first solo album Proud and a single of the title of the same name. Another single followed after the great success in Great Britain: Holding on .
In November 2000, Heather Small recorded the duet You Need Love Like I Do with Tom Jones .
In 2005, their single Proud from the album of the same name became the official soundtrack for London's application for the Olympic Games in 2012. The success of the title Proud continued in 2006. He is part of the soundtrack for Akeelah and the Bee with Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne and is also used in the television series Queer as Folk .
A best-of album, M People featuring Heather Small, The Ultimate Collection , was released in 2005. It contains songs from the group M People as well as pieces from Small's solo career.
First released in Great Britain on July 24, 2006, Close to a Miracle is Heather Small's second solo album. The first single from the album is called Radio On and was released on July 17, 2006.
In November 2010, Here Come the Girls started , a joint tour through Great Britain with the singers Anastacia and Lulu . The program contained both own hits and cover versions. Small replaced Chaka Khan , who had given the first concerts with Anastacia and Lulu a year earlier.
