Hebenu was an ancient Egyptian city in Middle Egypt, in the 16th Upper Egyptian antelope gau Ma-hedj . The place could not be precisely located so far, but was near Neferusi .
As one can deduce from the grave inscriptions of the Gau princes buried near Zawiyat al-Amwat , Hebenu was the capital of the Antelope Valley in the Old Kingdom . In this function she is also mentioned on the Gauliste of Sesostris I in Karnak . The place is mentioned several times in the Middle Kingdom , but was no longer the main town of the Gau. He is tentatively located at Zawiyat al-Amwat. The main god of the city was Horus , Lord of Hebenu .
