Hede Teirich-Leube

Hede Teirich-Leube (* 1903 in Esslingen am Neckar ; † 1979 ; born Leube ) was a German physiotherapist and doctor who played a key role in the development of the method of connective tissue massage .

Career

From 1923 onwards, Leube worked as a secretary, laboratory assistant and photographer in the anthropometric laboratory of the German University for Physical Education in Berlin. At the same time she attended the school for therapeutic gymnastics and massage, where she passed the exam in 1924. She became a teacher at the physiotherapy school of the medical professor Wolfgang Kohlrausch . When he moved his school to the University of Freiburg , she followed him as a senior teacher. In 1937 she passed the state examination in physiotherapy. In the following years, together with her mentor and Elisabeth Dicke , she developed the method of connective tissue massage.

In 1941 Kohlrausch followed a call to Strasbourg and she took over the technical management of the school in Freiburg. She also completed her studies in medicine. From 1950 until she retired in 1970, she was then director of the physiotherapy school at the University of Freiburg. In addition, from 1949 to 1970 she was the first chairwoman of the state association of physiotherapists in southern Baden-southern Württemberg. Together with Kurt Lindemann and Wolfgang Heipertz , she edited the four-volume “Textbook of Physiotherapy”.
