Hedwig Westphal

Hedwig Westphal (born July 22, 1931 in Munich ; † March 16, 2019 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Westphal attended business school and trained as a clerk. From 1947 to 1957 she worked as an accountant at the Städtische Sparkasse München , after which she worked as a women's secretary and clerk for social professions at ÖTV in Bavaria for another ten years . From 1962 she was also a member of the district board. In 1955 she joined the SPD, where she was a member of the state executive. From 1962 to 1978 she was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament , to which she was directly elected twice in a constituency in Munich. In 1965 she caused a stir when she appeared in a dirndl at a special session of the state parliament .
