Hedwig von der Osten , married von Borchstorf or von Burgsdorff (* 1613 in Woldenburg near Regenwalde , † 1676 ) was a German poet of Protestant sacred songs.

Life

The daughter of the noble family von der Osten experienced a restless youth in Pomerania during the Thirty Years War . In 1629 father and brother died of the plague . In 1633 she married Georg Ehrenreich von Borchstorf (spelling also: von Burgsdorff), a Prussian lieutenant colonel. She wrote sacred songs and reflections which - according to the judgment of Gottfried von Bülow in the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie - "have had an edifying effect in many circles for over a century".
