Heidenkam is a village in the municipality of Tiefenbach in the south-western district of Landshut (Lower Bavaria). The place is about five kilometers west of Landshut between the places Tiefenbach and Ast . About 300 inhabitants live in the place. The Tiefenbach flows past to the east of the village .

history

Archaeological excavations show traces of settlement as early as the Bronze and Urnfield Ages . In the Middle Ages Heidenkam was the seat of a Hofmark . This was acquired by the Preysing family at the beginning of the 14th century .

On April 1, 1971, the place came as part of the municipality of Ast to the municipality of Tiefenbach.

Originally, Heidenkam was dominated by agriculture, but was expanded to a residential location for commuters and a settlement area to the south due to its proximity to the district capital Landshut, the A 92 motorway and Munich Airport .

Attractions

The townscape is shaped by the late Romanesque church of St. Peter , which was built in the 12th or 13th century. This is one of the oldest churches in the Landshut district. There is also a ground monument in Heidenkam , the now leveled castle stables of a medieval hilltop castle .
