Heidi Kempa (born September 13, 1941 in Velten , Brandenburg ) is a former GDR pop singer , she was popular in the 60s and 70s.

Life

After finishing school, she learned the profession of industrial clerk in Hennigsdorf and worked in the steel mill's cultural group. There she performed successfully in Heinz Quermann'sHerzklopfen gratis ” in 1960 . In two other appearances in this series she was popular with “The Great River” and “Love Me”. She came to hit singing through the “Young Talents” movement, and in 1961 she took first place in both the district and the district elimination and successfully participated in the GDR elimination. In 1962, Klaus Hugo wrote her the title “Red poppy will bloom again”, with which she took top positions in the GDR charts and which was also published by AMIGA . She perfected her musical skills in the youth studio of Berliner Rundfunks, a cadre forge for the GDR hit industry, and through her own learning. Her hobby turned into a job. Further recordings followed in 1963, so u. a. “Serenade of the Night”. The title “I have nothing against love and moonlight” was placed among the top 15 hits of the year in 1964. The audience honored these successes and Heidi Kempa received the “Golden Microphone” as the most popular performer in the same year. She has been present on radio and television and on tours in all parts of the republic for a long time. Guest performances have taken her to Bulgaria, Poland, the USSR and Yugoslavia. From around 1985 to 1990 she worked as a singing teacher in Hennigsdorf. From 1990 she devoted herself to her love for animals and built up the animal protection association Oberhavel with like-minded people, on whose board she is still active today.
