Heidi Leitner

Heidi Leitner (* 1968 in Brixen , South Tyrol ) is an Italian visual artist .

Life

After elementary and secondary school, Leitner completed a seven-year training course as a wood sculptor at the traditional sites of South Tyrolean sculpture, in the Ahrntal and Val Gardena . The influence of the South Tyrolean sculptor and professor Jakob Obehollenzer soon became particularly influential .

She lives and works in the municipality of Terenten in South Tyrol.

Symposia / competitions / prizes

While still a student, the artist took part in numerous symposia and competitions in Italy, Austria, France, the USA and others, where she created wood, stone and ice sculptures. The sculptress caught the audience and the expert juries through her idiosyncratic style, so that her artistic expression was awarded numerous jury and audience prizes.

  • "Passion Christi" competition for the St. Christina cemetery in Val Gardena / Italy (1st prize combined with the order to produce five life-size bronze reliefs in 1995)
  • Competition for the "European Design Prize for Wood Sculptors" from the State Guild of Wood Sculptors Baden-Württemberg / Germany (main prize 2008)

Artistic intention

Heidi Leitner's oeuvre is characterized by a wide range of forms and themes, but has a common denominator: For the artist, each of her works is a detailed manifestation of a special observation. She tries to get her audience to look at breaks and unevenness in what would otherwise appear flat Structure to direct. The artistic goal is to create a fictitious social space in which the artist meets with her audience for dialogue and discussion about what is represented.

Exhibitions

Heidi Leitner can look back on a lively exhibition activity (since 1989) in Italy and the neighboring countries. Since 2009 she has been an artist at Galerie Artodrome Berlin, through which she is represented internationally.
