Heike Sperling

Heike Sperling (born April 23, 1965 in Cologne ) is a German producer and director of music videos as well as an on-air designer. She is a professor for digital image media / visual music.

Life

Heike Sperling studied communication design at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal , where she did her doctorate in 1999 with Bazon Brock in the field of aesthetics .

In 1989, Sperling began as assistant and deputy to the creative director of RTL . Her work included the development of corporate on air design at the start of the television station VOX in 1993. From 1993 to 2002, Sperling worked as an independent producer, director and creative director in Germany and the USA for well-known companies. In addition, music videos were created , especially for experimental and electronic music, such as the Electronica project Pluramon . From 2000 to 2003, Sperling designed monthly collages for the German business magazine brand eins . In 2001, as a freelance creative director and producer, together with Berlin designer Chris Rehberger, she developed the on-air image for the music channel VIVA Plus to launch. From 2002, she worked for two years as Head of Design for WDR television , where she was responsible for on-air, set, sound and light design. Since January 2004 she has been working as a freelance design management consultant (creative consultant).

Since 1998 Heike Sperling has been leading the Motion Design project course at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy together with Manfred Becker . Further teaching assignments have led and regularly lead her to the Basel University of Art and Design , NABA Milan, the Bremen University of the Arts and the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences . In 2004 the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf appointed her as professor for digital image media / visual music at the Institute for Music and Media. In 2009 she started building the Visual Music Archive as an online platform for this genre.
