Heike Wezel (born October 19, 1968 in Klingenthal ) is a former German cross-country skier who mainly participated in competitions from 1988 to 1994.

Career

Wezel, who started for the SC Dynamo Klingenthal , became world champion with the GDR relay at the Junior World Championships in 1988 in Saalfelden and won the silver medal over 15 kilometers. A year earlier she won the silver medal with the relay at the Junior World Championships in Asiago . At the Winter Olympics in 1992 she had her best results with 17th place over 5 km classic and eighth place with the 4 × 5 km relay. The greatest success of her World Cup career was fourth place in a 10-kilometer competition in Norway in 1990. Her best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun in 1993 were 39th place over 15 km classic and tenth place with the relay. In 1994 she won the American Birkebeiner .
