The Heimethus in Todtmoos

The Heimatmuseum Todtmoos , known in Alemannic Heimethus , is a historic Black Forest house and local museum . It is located in Todtmoos in the Hotzenwald in the Waldshut district .

The Heimethus was set up in 1991 in a shingle-roofed Black Forest house that is over 250 years old and still has the traditional ridge columns . Citizens from Todtmoos and the surrounding area have furnished the house with numerous objects from everyday culture from the past centuries. The local history and folklore collection shows tools, such as wood turner and schnefler , on the history of the gingerbread trade as well as household appliances from the once widespread home work of cotton spinning , weaving and handicrafts to agriculture and forestry. The pilgrimage to the Church of Our Lady in Todtmoos and the health resort are also topics of the exhibition.
