Hendrik "Hein" John van de Poel (* 23. July 1915 in Middelburg , Zeeland ; † 22. February 1993 in The Hague ) was a Dutch politician of the Catholic People's Party (KVP), among others, Secretary of State and Mayor of Ter Aar was .

Life

After attending the Roman Catholic Hogere Burgerschool Aloysius College in The Hague, Van de Poel worked for the Employment Office in The Hague between 1934 and 1938 and managed the local pharmacy in The Hague during the Second World War . After the end of the war he worked in the social department of The Hague from 1945 to 1950 and also studied law at the Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen until 1947 .

After van de Poel was head of the social department of The Hague from 1950 to January 1, 1955 with the rank of trainee C , he acted from January 1, 1955 to January 1, 1965 as secretary and member of the pension council and at the same time was chairman of the Extraordinary Pension Council. For his services, he was honored on April 29, 1960 with the Officer's Cross of the Order of Orange-Nassau . Subsequently, from January 1, 1965 to May 29, 1967, he held the position of main director of the General Civil Pension Fund ABP ( Algemeen Burgerlijk Pensioenfonds ).

On April 18, 1967, Prime Minister Piet de Jong made van de Poel State Secretary for Youth, Population Development, Sport, Nature Conservation, Outdoor Recreation , Assistance and Extraordinary Pensions in the Ministry of Culture, Recreation and Social Work ( Ministerie van Cultuur, Recreatie en Maatschappelijk Werk ) appointed and held this office in the De Jong cabinet until July 6, 1971. After leaving the government, he was also awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Dutch Lion for his services on July 17, 1971 .

Van de Poel became Mayor of Ter Aar on March 16, 1972 and held this position until October 1, 1976. At the same time, he was chairman of the board of directors of Algemeen Burgelijk Pensioenfonds between 1972 and August 1, 1980 .
