Heinemannia is a genus of butterflies fromthe grass miner family (Elchistidae).
features
The antennae are only slightly shorter than the fore wings. The labial palps are long, cylindrical and strongly curved upwards. The second segment is thickened ventrally by coarse scales . The front wings are broadly lanceolate and have two large clusters of protruding scales. The hind wings are lanceolate, but a quarter narrower than the fore wings.
The uncus is missing in the males , the gnathos arms are very short and end in large bladders covered with rows of spines. The tegumen is long and narrowed distally . The blades are long, wide at the base and narrow in the middle. The tip is rounded. The anellus lobes are large and about half the length of the valves. They taper distally and have some blunt spines at the tip. The aedeagus is long, narrow, and tubular. It is slightly curved. Cornuti are either present or absent.
In females the anal papillae are long and narrow. The Apophyses posteriores are about a quarter longer than the Apophyses anteriores. The ostium is wide and cup-shaped or funnel-shaped. The antrum is provided with a pair of short sclerotized bars. The ductus bursae is long and narrow and slightly widened towards the corpus bursae. The widest part is more or less granulated. The corpus bursae is oval or egg-shaped and has no sign.
The genitals of males and females show only very small interspecific differences. The moths can be distinguished more easily morphologically.
distribution
The genus is native to the Palearctic . In the east the distribution area extends to the southwest of Siberia .
biology
The biology is only known from Heinemannia laspeyrella , the caterpillars of the species feed in the seed pods of legumes .
Systematics
The type species is Tinea laspeyrella Hübner , 1796. The genus is represented in Europe with three species:
- Heinemannia albidorsella ( Staudinger , 1877)
- Heinemannia festivella ( Denis & Schiffermüller , 1775)
- Heinemannia laspeyrella ( Huebner , 1796)
