Heinemannia albidorsella is a butterfly ( moth ) fromthe grass leaf miner family (Elachistidae).

features

The moths reach a wingspan of 13 to 16 millimeters. The head shines white, the antennae are monochrome brown-gray. The palps are white and at least as long as those of Heinemannia festivella and Heinemannia laspeyrella . The legs and rails, especially the front ones, are black on the outside. Otherwise the legs are dirty brown, the tarsi yellowish and indistinctly darkly curled. The thorax shines white, the tegulae are white and have a dark gray-brown spot in front. The front wings are white, yellowish white in the costal fold and gray-brown in the apical area. The costal line is broad and gray-brown and is interrupted at 3/4 of the forewing length by a large white line. A large gray-brown oval spot is located in front of the middle of the wing between the costal fold and the costalader. It is outlined in white in the direction of the Costalader, underneath on the dorsal side of the Costalfold there is a tuft of protruding black-brown scales . A similar spot with a tuft of scales in the distal half is on the inner corner . It is also outlined in white, the outline is connected to the large white line on the Costa loader. A brown line lies between the two oval spots, another is between the outer oval spot and the wing tip. The latter is larger than the first, more reddish-brown in color and has a distal white border. A black-brown subcostal line extends from the inner oval spot to the wing tip. It is interrupted by the wide white costal line and the white border of the outer brown line. The fringed scales are gray-yellow, a broad gray-brown line runs on the wing tip. The hind wings shine pale gray.

The males differ from those of the species Heinemannia laspeyrella and Heinemannia festivella by the width of the gnathos arms. These are narrower than the distal part of the valves.

In the females, the eighth tergite is almost square and tapers distally. The ostium is cup-shaped. The confluence of the ductus bursae and corpus bursae is clearly granulated. The corpus bursae is egg-shaped.

Similar species

H. albidorsella can be distinguished from the similar species Heinemannia laspeyrella and Heinemannia festivella by the basic white color of the forewings, the large white costal line and the two brown spots in the distal half of the forewing.

distribution

Heinemannia albidorsella is native to the south of France , Corsica and Sardinia .

biology

The food plant of the caterpillars is still unknown. The moths were caught from May to early June.
