The Heinrich Schütz House in Bad Köstritz

The Heinrich Schütz House in Bad Köstritz is the birthplace of the composer Heinrich Schütz .

In 1931 the Heinrich Schütz Committee in Bad Köstritz put a plaque at the entrance to the house. In 1954 a small memorial was set up there. In 1985, the international year of music, on the occasion of Heinrich Schütz's 400th birthday, the house was fundamentally redesigned to become a research and memorial site, headed by Ingeborg Stein until 1999. On October 15, Heinrich Schütz's first international house opened its doors .

Supporters of the Heinrich-Schütz-Haus Bad Köstritz founded the Schütz-Akademie eV in 1991 as an association which, on the one hand, aims to "develop and disseminate the work of Heinrich Schütz, the music and cultural history of his time and its prerequisites" (statute §1) and on the other hand, the promotion of the initiatives of the “research and memorial in the birthplace of the composer HEINRICH-SCHÜTZ-HAUS Bad Köstritz” has set itself the task.
