Heinrich father

Heinrich August Vater (born September 5, 1859 in Bremen , † February 10, 1930 in Dresden ) was a German soil and forest scientist . Father was the founder of forest soil science and site studies and also forest fertilization.

biography

At the age of 28, father was appointed professor of mineralogy and geology at the Königliche-Sächsische Forstakademie Tharandt , founded by Heinrich Cotta in 1811 , and worked there from 1887 to 1925. From 1896, he introduced independent lectures for forest soil science and site studies , because of their importance for forestry practice grew steadily.

His work on the establishment and statistical evaluation of field tests (including the removal of litter) and the results of his methodically precise research are still valid today.

In 1898 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
