Heinrich Beerbom (born December 29, 1892 in Großenwieden , now Hessisch Oldendorf , † May 16, 1980 in Bramsche ) was the mayor and city ​​director of Bramsche.

Heinrich Beerbom came to Bramsche in the summer of 1911 after his training as a lawyer secretary in Rinteln to take up his position with the lawyer and notary Dr. To compete with Erich Eckels. His new employer was also the incumbent mayor. On November 1, 1916, Beerbom became secretary of the Bramsch magistrate . After the mayor's death on January 13, 1918, Beerbom was acting head of the city ​​administration until the end of April 1918 . When the newly elected Mayor Dr. Schrader resigned from office on December 31, 1918, Beerbom resumed official business. On October 29, 1919, the magistrate and the mayor elected him mayor in a joint meeting from among 45 candidates with 16 out of 17 votes.

One day before the Reichstag and local elections on March 5, 1933, the local NSDAP hoisted a swastika flag on the Bramsch town hall. Since this flag was not an official flag, Heinrich Beerbom had it removed, to the displeasure of the local National Socialists. On March 30, 1933, the non-party was dismissed from office by the National Socialists and imprisoned for several weeks. By decree of the Prussian Interior Ministry , he was in the on February 8, 1934 retirement was added. Only in July 1937 did he find another job as managing director of the tenant protection association in Osnabrück. In July 1940 he was conscripted to the district office in Bersenbrück . There he was a department head, including the economic and war damage office .

As early as April 13, 1945, four weeks before the unconditional surrender of the German Wehrmacht , he was reinstated in his previous office by the British military government . After the separation of the legislative and executive branches through the amendment of the municipal code, he moved to the office of full-time city ​​director on July 19, 1946 . He held this until his retirement after reaching retirement age on March 31, 1958.

On June 25, 1958, Federal President Theodor Heuss awarded him the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon . The city of Bramsche made him its only honorary citizen on December 28, 1967, on the eve of his 75th birthday, and named a place after him on May 23, 1992. A memorial stone is located on the edge of this square within sight of the town hall.
