Heinrich Cordes (missionary)
Johann Heinrich Karl Cordes (born March 21, 1813 in Betzendorf ; † March 9, 1892 in the Lößnitz ) was an Evangelical Lutheran missionary in southern India.
On March 2, 1840 , he was sent as a missionary to southern India by the Evangelical Lutheran Mission Society in Dresden . In what was then the Danish colony of Tranquebar , he joined a Danish colleague and resumed the work of the Danish-Halle Mission .
Cordes was buried in the Radebeul-West cemetery.
His son August Cordes was Superintendent of Leipzig from 1912 to 1924.
