Heinrich Eickholt

Heinrich Eickholt (born August 15, 1927 in Herbern ; † December 21, 2018 in Ostbevern ) was a German educator , writer and local researcher .

Life

After serving as a flak helper , he was drafted into the Wehrmacht in the last year of the war. As a young man, he experienced the tragedy of a senseless war, which remained a formative experience for him. Then he pursued his dream course and studied at the Pedagogical University of Westphalia-Lippe . After a few intermediate stops, he was entrusted with the school in Brock in the early 1950s. There Eickholt taught up to 80 pupils of all ages at the same time, from school entry to school leaving. The school reform ended this and he was transferred to the village as a primary and secondary school teacher. He also teaches vocational school for farmers in Ostbevern. Heinrich Eickholt did not retire until 1991, after more than 40 years of service.

He was involved as a soccer lobbyist at BSV Ostbevern , as honorary chairman of the board of Volksbank Ostbevern and on the church council of the parish of St. Ambrosius. But his great passion was the historical exploration of Ostbevern. He worked as a recognized local researcher and church archivist. Eickholt was considered a well-founded expert on the history of Ostbevern and Westphalia, which was founded in many books, statements and amounts. He was married to Theresia Eickholt, née Niehoff.
