Heinrich Freihoffer

Heinrich Freihoffer (born January 11, 1921 in Șemlacu Mic ( German  Kleinschemlak ), Kingdom of Romania , † 1989 ) was a German dialect author and teacher.

Life

Freihoffer's family originally came from South Tyrol . During the Second World War , the Banat Swabian was a senior squire and platoon leader of the SS (1944). Later he was director of studies in Deggendorf , Bavaria.

Freihoffer was the author of numerous publications on local history. In his novels he processed his experiences during the deportation to the Bărăgan steppe in the early 1950s. The focus is on escape and deportation from Kleinschemlak (under the pseudonym "Waldbrücken").

Until his death in 1998 Freihoffer held the offices of spokesman and secretary of the " Heimatortsgemeinschaft Kleinschemlak".
