Heinrich Friedrich Höffler

Heinrich Friedrich Höffler (born March 29, 1793 in Frankfurt am Main ; † 1844 there ) was a German painter .

Life

Before 1817 Höffler took drawing and painting lessons at Johann Andreas Benjamin Reges' drawing institute in Frankfurt am Main. Between 1817 and 1822 he stayed in Paris . There he was a student in the studio of Antoine-Jean Gros and at the École des Beaux-Arts as well as a scholarship holder of the Städelsche Kunstinstitut . He then returned to Frankfurt. back. He undertook further studies in model drawing at the Städel Art Institute and worked as a portrait painter and painter of religious subjects . From 1822 he made study trips to the Rhine and Switzerland, in 1827 he took part in a Frankfurt exhibition of local artists with two study heads and a male portrait in oil. In 1834 at the latest, he founded his own painting and drawing school, which he managed until at least 1838. His children, who later became artistically active, also took lessons there, including Adolf Johann Hoeffler (1825–1898) and Christine Hoeffler (1827–1878).
