Heinrich Funk (organist)

Heinrich Funk (born April 12, 1904 in Wädenswil , † February 21, 1977 in Zurich ) was a Swiss organist and conductor .

Live and act

After studying at the Zurich Conservatory in Paris, Heinrich Funk became a student of the French organist and composer Marcel Dupré . In 1926 he took up the post of organist at the Reformed Church in Wädenswil . In 1930 he became conductor and artistic director of the church choir (today church and oratorio choir) in Wädenswil. Such engagements followed in 1933 and 1940 with the orchestral association (now the chamber orchestra) in Wädenswil and with the male choir Eintracht Wädenswil. Funk initiated subscription concerts and engaged Maria Stader , Ernst Häfliger or his former private teacher Dupré for concerts in Wädenswil.

In addition to his musical activities in Wädenswil, Funk went on several concert tours. From 1942 Funk worked as an organ teacher at the Zurich Conservatory, and from 1954 as an organist at the Zurich Fraumünster , where he continued his concert activities. He was also engaged as an organist with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich .
