Rudolf Haubst

Rudolf Haubst (born April 18, 1913 in Maring on the Moselle , † July 19, 1992 in Mainz ) was a German Catholic theologian .

Life

Haubst was born as the son of the winemaker couple Matthias and Angela Haubst. He received in 1937 in Trier the ordination to the priesthood. He spent his years as chaplain, interrupted by four years of military service, in Koblenz and Trier. From 1946 to 1950 he was the rector and religion teacher of a monastery school.

In 1952 he received his doctorate at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn with the dissertation The Image of One and Three Gods in the World according to Nikolaus von Kues . After his habilitation Christology of Nicholas of Cusa in 1955, he was in May 1958, the Chair of Dogmatic Theology at the University of Mainz appointed . In 1960 he was the founder and first director of the Institute for Cusanus Research. as well as the first chairman of the Cusanus Society .
