Heinrich Gottong

Heinrich Gottong (born February 4, 1912 in Werder (Havel) , † 1944 in Hungary ) was a German anthropologist and "racial researcher".

After studying at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin , Gottong received his doctorate in anthropology from the National Socialists Hans FK Günther and Bruno K. Schultz in 1939 with a “ racial ” work on the Sorbian rural population around Hoyerswerda . From March 1940 he was Jewish advisor in the Department of Population and Welfare under Fritz Arlt at the government of the General Government in Krakow , from October 1940 assistant in the Racial and Ethnic Research Section at the Institute for German Ostarbeit with Anton Plügel . There he did important preparatory work for the extermination of the Jews. He was drafted into military service in 1942 and is missing in Hungary.
