Heinrich Hüni-Stettler

Heinrich Hüni-Stettler (born March 16, 1813 in Horgen , † April 27, 1876 in Enge ) was a Swiss politician and businessman . From 1854 to 1860 he was a member of the National Council, and in 1856/57 he was a member of the government of the Canton of Zurich .

biography

He was the son of a farmer and mayor of Horgen. He received his training at the Horgen training institute from Heinrich Hüni-Nägeli . Later he was a successful merchant and silk manufacturer. Hüni married Wilhelmine Maria from the Bernese patrician family Stettler in 1837 . As a liberal politician, he was elected to the Zurich Cantonal Council in 1854 , to which he belonged for four years. After an unsuccessful candidacy in 1851, he was elected in the National Council elections in 1854 in the constituency of Zurich-Southwest ; in the second ballot, the turnout was only 3.6%.

The canton council elected Hüni to the cantonal government for the years 1856/57. After he had only managed to be re-elected as National Council in the third ballot in 1857, he was clearly voted out of office in 1860. Hüni was a protégé of the influential Alfred Escher , but represented more social views than this. In 1856 he was a co-founder of the Schweizerische Kreditanstalt . In the Swiss Northeastern Railway , he was from 1856 to 1858 and a board member from 1857 to 1875 Board of Directors . He was also a member of the Rentenanstalt board of directors from 1854 to 1860 .
