Heinrich Haas

Heinrich Haas (born June 6, 1890 in Maierhofen near Kirchbach in Styria , Austria-Hungary ; † December 30, 1953 in Zurich , Switzerland ) was an Austrian film producer .

Life

Heinrich Haas participated in the First World War from 1914 to 1918 after completing his commercial training . In 1920 he acquired the Graz War Orphanage and renamed it Ringlichtspiele. In 1922 he founded the film distributor Apollo-Film.

Haas started working as a producer in 1925, but it was only after the founding of his Styria-Film that he released feature films from 1934. His productions mostly belonged to the genre of Viennese film , repeatedly with Hans Moser and Paul Hörbiger in the leading roles.

After the annexation of Austria , Styria-Film became a supplier to the newly founded, state-controlled Wien-Film and was incorporated into it in 1940. Haas now acted as production manager . In 1947 he re-founded Styria-Film and resumed his production activities.
