Life

Heinrich Henstorf was born in Bissendorf at the time of the Kingdom of Hanover and went through - thanks to his talent that was recognized and promoted at an early stage - "an exceptional career for his time".

After his training, Henstorf worked as a teacher in Berlin until he retired before he returned to his hometown. In 1938 he wrote an in & Publishing Hannoverscher indicator Madsack Co. in Hanover published chronicle of Bissendorfer history.

After the time of National Socialism and the end of the Second World War , Heinrich Henstorf and his wife Hedwig (1877–1960) founded the Henstorf Foundation Bissendorf, named after them, to which they brought a large part of their legacy in 1951 while they were still alive. The purpose of the foundation was and is to support children and talented young people in their development, "especially when their parents were unable to finance their children's education", a situation that Heinrich Henstorf himself experienced in his youth.

After the foundation was established, the community of Bissendorf made at least Heinrich Henstorf an honorary citizen of the place. The foundation received a lot of money through the sale of the house in Bissendorf No. 69 , also known as “Baden's house”, as well as the land that was converted into the “Kummerberg” building area . This enabled the foundation idea to be implemented and a sum made available every year for youth development.
