Heinrich Hollreiser

Heinrich Hollreiser (born June 24, 1913 in Munich , † July 24, 2006 in Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser , Austria ) was a German conductor .

Heinrich Hollreiser studied with Karl Elmendorff in Munich. In 1932 he went to Wiesbaden as Kapellmeister, then to Darmstadt. In 1938 he became 1st Kapellmeister in Mannheim. This was followed by stations in Duisburg and, from 1942 to 1944, in Munich. 1945 to 1951 he was general music director of the city of Düsseldorf. From 1952 to 1961 he was first conductor at the Vienna State Opera , from 1961 to 1964 as chief conductor at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin.

After that, Hollreiser mainly worked as a guest conductor, commuting back and forth between Munich, Berlin and Vienna. As a long-time conductor of the Vienna State Opera , he performed more than a thousand times at the conductor's podium until 1994. As a guest conductor, he also conducted the Berlin Philharmonic as well as many Wagner performances at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, well into old age . He also directed the Düsseldorf and Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra .

Heinrich Hollreiser died in 2006 at the age of 93 and was buried in the old part of the forest cemetery in Munich .
