Heinrich Holze

Heinrich Holze (born January 13, 1955 ) is a German theologian and church historian .

Life

As a scholarship holder of the Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst, he studied Protestant theology at the Bethel-Bielefeld Church University and at the universities of Zurich , Münster and Göttingen (first and second theological exams of the Confederation of Evangelical Churches in Lower Saxony , vicariate in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover (1980 & 1982)). He was pastor and research assistant at the Theological Academy in Celle (1982–1985). After receiving his doctorate from the Georg-August University in Göttingen (1985), he was a research assistant for church history at the Bethel University of Applied Sciences (1985–1990). After his habilitation at the Bethel Church University (1989), he was pastor at St. Marien in Osnabrück (1990–1993). He was a research fellow at the Lutheran World Federation / Department for Theology and Studies, Genève (1993–1995). Since 1995 he has been Professor of Church History at the Theological Faculty of the University of Rostock .

His research interests are the history of early monasticism, Christianity and society in the High Middle Ages, theological training in the early modern period and Scandinavian church history.
