Henry II of Gevore

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich II. Von Gevore (* around 1140 ) was one of the noblemen of Gevore , who later called themselves noblemen of Bilstein .

At the time of Heinrich II, the family still lived on the Peperburg am Lenne -übergang near Förde (today located in Grevenbrück ).

His father was Heinrich I. von Gevore , his mother NN. von Rüdenberg , a sideline of the Counts of Arnsberg / Werl . He was married to Irmgard von Arnsberg , daughter of Count Heinrich I von Arnsberg and his wife Emmengard von Freusberg .

In the sources, a Henricus der Vure is first mentioned in 1171, when he testified that the Bredelar Monastery was founded by the Archbishop of Cologne, Philip I of Heinsberg . He was also present when the Archbishop confirmed the founding of the Wedinghausen monastery and later the Oelinghausen monastery in 1173 . In 1216/17 he was present at the court conference of Archbishop Engelbert I of Cologne . It appears for the last time in a document in the year 1220. The importance of the official acts, which he attended, and the fact that he appears among the most distinguished witnesses indicate his important position.

His successor was his son Dietrich I von Gevore , who later built Bilstein Castle and named himself after it. Heinrich von Bilstein is named as another son .
