Henry III. von Waldeck (* around 1225/1230; † 1267 ) was the eldest son of Count Adolf I von Waldeck († 1270) from his first marriage to Sophie († 1254). It came from the Waldeck house .

Heinrich was already co-ruler of the Waldeck county , which he founded, during his father's lifetime , but died three years before his father. His brother Widukind had become a clergyman, was bishop of Osnabrück from 1265 to 1269 , and died on November 18, 1269. Adolf I's successor as Count von Waldeck was thus Heinrich's son Adolf II.

Heinrich supported, together with his father Adolf and his brother Widukind, the Landgrave Heinrich I of Hesse in his successful fight with Bishop Simon von Paderborn and the Abbot Heinrich III. von Corvey for territorial supremacy in the north Hessian border area with Westphalia .

Heinrich was married to Mechthild von Cuyk-Arnsberg (* around 1235, † after August 13, 1298), daughter of Count Gottfried III. von Arnsberg and heiress of the Wewelsburg . The following children were born out of the marriage:

  • Adolf II (* around 1250, † December 13, 1302), 1270–1276 Count von Waldeck, after abdication cleric, from 1301 Bishop of Liège
  • Gottfried († May 14, 1324), 1304–1324 Bishop of Minden
  • Otto I († November 11, 1305, murdered in captivity), 1276–1305 as the successor to his brother Count von Waldeck
  • Adelheid († 1339/1342), ∞ Simon I. zur Lippe († 1344)
