Heinrich Kiefer (painter)

Heinrich Kiefer (born May 3, 1911 in Breslau , † July 19, 1980 in Greifswald ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

He began an apprenticeship as a carpenter and attended the Breslau Art and Trade School. After suffering from a brain tumor, he suffered from paralysis of the left extremities.

After fleeing with the family from Breslau as a result of the Second World War with stops in Mylau , Goldisthal , Eisenhammer (near Neustadt / Orla), he built a new life as a freelance artist in Neustadt an der Orla .

In 1963 he was involved in the founding of the Neustadt painting circle, which he directed until 1979.

He spent his working vacation almost every year alternately in Ahrenshoop (Baltic Sea), Vitte (Hiddensee) or Greifswald and also went on study trips to Harrachov , Riga , Tallinn and Leningrad .

His main subjects were landscapes, flowers, portraits and still lifes , which he preferred to produce in watercolor , oil and wax colors , linocut , pastel, charcoal and chalk drawings .

There were exhibitions in Breslau, Berlin, Hamburg, Nuremberg, Munich and Vienna.
