Heinrich Kleisli  (born October 19, 1930 , † April 5, 2011 ) was a Swiss mathematician and university professor .

Kleisli received his doctorate from the ETH in Zurich in 1960 . He wrote his doctoral thesis on homotopy theory in Abelian categories . He then worked as an Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa . Kleisli was an associate professor from 1966 and a full professor of mathematics at the University of Freiburg from 1967 to 2000 . In 1967 he took over the management of the Mathematical Institute and was Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences from 1972 to 1973 and Vice-Rector of the University of Freiburg from 1975 to 1978. 1976–1977 Heinrich Kleisli was President of the Swiss Mathematical Society .

He is the namesake of several mathematical constructions such as the Kleisli category and also the Kleisli query system (Kleisli Query System), a tool for integrating heterogeneous databases.
